The committee at Ardrossan Highland Games have donated a cheque to James McFarlane School in Ardrossan who are hoping to get individuals and small businesses involved in order for them to purchase a magic carpet.

The magic carpet projects interactive images and games onto the floor which allowed the children, who are unable to operate computers etc interact with activities.

The Magic carpet costs in excess of £8000 and the school is hoping to encourage business and individuals to pledge to raise £100 each.

If you would like to help out James McFarlane School with their magic carpet appeal than please contact the school on 01294 461370!!

A Brief History

Situated on the West Coast of Scotland, around 30 miles south west of Glasgow, Ardrossan has hosted a highland games since 1979.

The games have always been held on the Second Sunday in June and are now located on the field of Ardrossan Academicals Rugby Football Club located on the border of the town with Saltcoats.

The first Ardrossan Highland Games took place in June 1979 and have taken place almost every year since. The games are organised by a group of hard working volunteers from the local area who manage to create one of the major annual events in North Ayrshire.
